Meet Melanie Lopez: The Heart Behind Lazy Diva's Travel.
I’m Melanie Lopez—though friends call me Melrose. I’m a travel enthusiast and customer success strategist, born and raised in the vibrant coastal village of Hopkins, Belize. My journey started on the beach, where my siblings and I built our own toys from branches and crates, pretending we were traveling to faraway places. Growing up as one of nine children, life was simple but full of adventure, and it was there that my passion for exploration was sparked.
My Origin:
Hopkins is small, but its rich culture and nature shaped my adventurous spirit. My parents didn’t have the chance to go to school, but they made sure we did. At the end of every school year, we went on trips, saving up by selling mangoes. My most memorable trip was to Chetumal, Mexico, at 10 years old. Crossing the border into a new country lit a fire in me—a desire to see more of the world. At 18, I got my first passport, determined to travel, and I’ve since visited 10 countries across North and Central America.
I’ve experienced the limitations of traveling with a Belizean passport, but it hasn’t stopped me. Instead, it fuels my passion for helping others discover new places, even if we have to navigate a few hoops along the way.
My Process:
When I plan travel, it’s personal. I believe every trip should reflect the dreams and desires of the traveler. That’s why I take the time to listen to your vision, creating customized itineraries that are unique to you. Whether it’s a peaceful beach getaway or an exciting jungle adventure, my goal is to take the stress out of planning, so you can focus on enjoying the journey.
My Inspiration:
My inspiration comes from my incredible family and the experiences I’ve had along the way. My father, Pancho Lopez, taught me resilience, while my mother, Frances, instilled the values of hard work and perseverance. My children—Jahson, Jaedon, and Anaya—and my loving husband, Cesar, inspire me every day to live life to the fullest. I also carry the memory of my son, Jordan, who passed away at 16 months. His short life reminds me to embrace every moment, and I channel that into helping others create lasting memories through travel.
Travel isn’t just about visiting new places—it’s about experiencing life, connecting with cultures, and making memories that last. I’m here to guide you on your journey, wherever in the world it takes you.
